I hold a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Nairobi and have over 17 years of classroom teaching experience as an elementary educator. My teaching background includes working with students across different countries and cultures, including Kenya, Japan, Sudan, and the United States. I have taught in international school settings, including IB Primary Years Programme environments, where I supported students in reading, writing, math, inquiry-based learning, and overall academic confidence.
Throughout my teaching career, I have worked mainly with elementary-aged students from kindergarten through fifth grade, both in classroom settings and through personalized one-on-one support. My approach is structured, patient, and student-centered. I begin by identifying each child’s learning needs, strengths, and gaps, then create lessons that help them build skills step by step. In reading, I support phonics, fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, and critical thinking. In writing, I help students organize ideas, develop sentences and paragraphs, and grow in confidence. In math, I focus on conceptual understanding, problem solving, number sense, and explaining thinking clearly.
I can tutor in reading, writing, and math because I have taught these subjects directly for many years and understand how to adjust instruction for different learning styles and confidence levels. My goal is not only to help students improve academically, but also to help them feel capable, encouraged, and prepared for success in school.
