I have always enjoyed observing children and what makes them unique and working to find ways to improve their learning and confidence. Since receiving my M.Ed in Elementary Education, I have sought to do just that.

My first six years teaching were in kinder and grade 1 in a diverse public school. For the next two years, I served as an Early Intervention Program teacher because I wanted to work with students in small groups. I taught small groups of first, second, and third grade students who were not yet working on grade level content in reading and math.

During the covid era, I was hired to tutor two grade 3 students while their school was offering only virtual learning. Both students had exceptional needs. I took great pride in supplementing their lessons in a way that kept their attention and helped them master the concepts being taught.

In August of 2021, I worked for three years as an Early Intervention Program teacher in Fulton County. In this role, I assessed where the learning gaps were for students who were not yet working at grade level and planned small group interventions to close those gaps. Students often commented that I made learning fun and looked forward to our time together.

For the past two years, I have worked as a Reading, Writing, and Grammar instructor in the fourth grade at Mt. Pisgah Christian School. I enjoy seeing students increase in confidence as readers and writers. My goal is for students to know that if they can think, they can write. As a child, I didn't see myself as a strong writer but have developed that ability as an adult. I love increasing student confidence in this area.

My classroom incorporates a great deal of movement into lessons as well as role play and discussion. Children learn best when their brains and bodies are active.
