Hi, I'm Alex! I graduated from Clemson University in 2023 with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and a 3.54 GPA. Throughout school, to fully grasp a concept, I would need to break down all the required information into its most basic components, understanding it at an almost elementary level. It was this method of understanding that led me to become a certified tutor at my school through Clemson's Academic Success Center. I was a certified tutor at the university for 2 years, teaching 4 different math courses (Calculus 1 and 2, Business Calculus 1 and 2), and I was also the only tutor for 2 specific electrical engineering circuits courses (Circuits 1 and 2), ages ranging from 18-19. In order to become certified as a tutor, I had to take a semester-long class that covered the do's and don'ts when guiding students as well as class discussions each week about how our sessions were going. I have taught in both group and 1 on 1 settings.

My method of teaching is with a very guided approach. I like to ask the student a lot of questions in order to hopefully have them discover the answer on their own through my guided support. I find this to be a much more effective method of teaching rather than just explaining everything, as it allows the student to learn the correct thought process to use throughout the concepts in order to obtain the correct answer. It also gives a greater sense of satisfaction, as they were the ones to ultimately find the answers. My teaching methods are adaptable, so working with the same student over time will help me better understand how they learn and tailor my teaching style to them.

It gives me great pleasure to hear back from a student that, because of my sessions, I enabled them to get higher grades on subsequent quizzes and tests. I am easy to reach and generally very quick to respond with great communication. I have no problem with a quick, free consultation before you commit to any sessions, just to make sure I'm a good fit for you!
