Hi, I'm Oishee, and I believe that finding the right teacher is a key part of academic success. Teaching is a passion of mine, and my goal is to make complex material accessible for my students. My tutoring philosophy centers on personalizing instruction to fit your needs as much as possible.
I graduated from UC Irvine with my Bachelor's in Biological Sciences and a minor in English, and then obtained a Master's in Public Health from Emory University, focusing on Behavioral, Social, and Health Education Sciences. I currently work at Emory University as a research specialist in pediatric pulmonary research. On weeknights and weekends, I tutor high school and college students in STEM subjects, primarily biology and chemistry.
I have been constantly tutoring in some way, shape, or form since high school, when I first discovered my passion for teaching. I continued tutoring in college, and after graduating, began working in education full-time. At this point, I have almost 10 years of teaching experience, and have worked with multiple education companies across Southern California. These companies include Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes, Beyond Curriculum Tutoring, the Institute for Educational Advancement, Studypoint, Education Unlimited Academic Summer Camp, the American English College, and the Ardent Academy.
Over the years, I have worked with students with learning disabilities, as well as with gifted and advanced students. I have also assisted students who were recent immigrants struggling with the language barrier. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I also began tutoring online, and have adapted several STEM topics for an online format.
Outside of tutoring, I love all things travel and trivia. I was born in Bangladesh and raised in Singapore, so I speak Bengali, Mandarin Chinese, and Hindi. A highlight of my life was being a contestant on the trivia game show Jeopardy! in 2020. I look forward to sharing my love for learning with you.
