I’m Lola and I am a third year Chemistry graduate student at Georgia Tech. I received my B.S. in Chemistry at Appalachian State University in 2022. During my four years at Appalachian State, I worked as a Chemistry tutor for General Chemistry courses (typically freshman and sophomore level courses). I worked along side professors to provide their students tailored tutoring sessions for their specific class section and created worksheets and study guides to resemble their coursework. While in college, the pandemic occurred and I continued to help students navigate chemistry while living through COVID via Zoom. I tutored students for an academic year via online format during the pandemic before returning back to an in person setting until graduation. After graduating, I chose to pursue a PhD in chemistry at Georgia Tech in the Fall of 2023. While studying advanced Organic chemistry and Inorganic Chemistry in my first year, I worked as a teaching assistant for General Chemistry for freshman engineer majors. I guided students in the laboratory and oversaw freshman level chemistry experiments. In this role, I demonstrated laboratory techniques and skills while also bridging the application of the experiments to their chemistry lectures. While I have not tutored Organic or Inorganic chemistry, these are topics that I have studied the past 3 years (and still continue to study). I would say I have several years of experience in tutoring chemistry (in person and online) and am open to tutoring other divisions of chemistry (organic/inorganic) and have always been committed to helping students through chemistry in hopes of using these skills in their future endeavors.
