I am a college professor with experience teaching at three universities in Georgia. Prior to that I taught high school English and Creative Writing for a year, and substitute-taught at elementary, middle and high school level as needed. I am a college professor with experience teaching at three universities in Georgia. Prior to that I taught high school English and Creative Writing for a year, and substitute-taught at elementary, middle and high school level as needed. I am a parent of a middle school student so I also have extensive experienced with her curriculum and cohort. I was a Kaplan GRE tutor and am familiar with editing and creative writing work.

I seek to support my students, but I am primarily interested in your academic, creative and intellectual growth. To that end, I will ask you to think critically and engage deeply in whatever project you are working on, and I will do my best to help you understand how to tackle it and guide you on your way. I am also registered to grade AP papers, and can help with college and other application letters.

My tutoring method is dialogic, interdisciplinary, and intellectually rigorous. I work with students to think with texts rather than passively absorb them, using Socratic questioning to build analytical depth, confidence, and independence. I maintain high expectations without condescension. Learning is always contextual: literature is read alongside history, philosophy, politics, and questions of power, identity, and ethics. I scaffold intellectual risk-taking by breaking down difficult concepts, giving students language for ideas they intuit but cannot yet articulate, and normalizing uncertainty, revision, and growth. The result is a relational but disciplined learning environment in which students feel both challenged and genuinely seen.
I am bilingual and have native fluency in two languages, and experience working with students whose native language is not English. Looking forward to helping you reach your academic goals!
