I am a current PhD student in biomedical engineering looking to tutor on the side. This role has given me opportunities to work as a teaching assistant for an undergraduate engineering course, train junior graduate students in protocols and literature relevant to our research projects, and give presentations on my research at scientific conferences and for my master’s thesis defense. I have additional informal experience coaching my friends through practice problems and helping them study. I believe that guiding a student through a problem rather than directly showing them how to do it strengthens their problem-solving process and allows them to better generalize the skills they learn to new problems.

During the completion of my undergraduate degree at UC Santa Barbara, I majored in physics, requiring a strong understanding of mathematical subjects including linear algebra, vector calculus, differential equations, and more. I satisfied my electives with courses in biology and chemistry. During this time, I was awarded a 4-year Army ROTC National Scholarship, UCSB Regent Scholarship, and a 4-year scholarship given by Northrup Grumman. I graduated with high honors and a GPA of 3.91. My undergraduate research in a biophysics lab led to my enrollment in the University of Virginia's biomedical engineering PhD program. I participated in the program for three years until my research advisor moved his lab to Georgia Tech. I completed a master's thesis, finishing with a 3.894 GPA, before following my advisor to Georgia Tech to continue working on my PhD. Here, I shifted my coursework to have a heavy emphasis on machine learning, and my current GPA is 3.66.

My strong background in a variety of STEM fields and my experience teaching make me a good option to be your tutor. I am excited to meet you and help you succeed!
