Hello! My name is Ellen, and I am an undergraduate Mechanical Engineering student at the Georgia Institute of Technology, minoring in Industrial Design. I have experience in cryogenics and robotics research, applying concepts of thermal properties and design, vortex dynamics, programming, and other related engineering subjects in the industry. At Georgia Tech, I recently started working at the CRAB (Complex Rheology and Biomechanics) Laboratory, where I am modifying a centipede-based peristalsis robot to study how different parameters affect locomotion, combining centipede biology with robotics and programming. I'm also a Teaching Assistant for Computing Techniques here, which is a MATLAB based course focusing on applying numerical method techniques in MATLAB to deliver client-based solutions to real world engineering problems. Outside of school, work, and research, I am a part of the Club Volleyball and Beach Volleyball teams here, and I enjoy art, music, reading, and music as well!
As a third-year engineering student, I understand how challenging STEM coursework is, no matter what level. Each student's needs are different, and I want to be able to connect with them to best understand what they are looking for from a tutor. My goal is to give my students confidence in their abilities in addition to a strong understanding of the foundations of the subjects they need a little extra help with. I've worked with fellow college students as a teaching assistant, seeing the different parts students struggle with and figuring out the best way to provide guidance. I've also worked with middle school students, coaching a local volleyball team!
I'd love to be able to provide my knowledge and guidance in engineering and related subjects towards anyone who needs my help. Please feel free to contact me with additional questions or requests!
