I worked at a Deaf Day school for the Deaf and a mainstreaming school as a certified teacher for 17 years. Now I left the workforce two years ago to focus on other chapters in life, but I still offer my expertise by providing independent tutoring. I have a master's degree in Psychology from Howard University and a master's degree in Deaf Education with Reading Endorsement from Georgia State University. I've taught History (High School), British Lit (12th grade- primarily Hearing students), Study Skills (High School), Health (K-12), and English/Language Arts (middle school and 9th grade).
While I primarily communicate in American Sign Language (ASL), I am able to work with Hearing non-signers by means of utilizing Zoom's Sorenson program, where an interpreter will be available for us for smooth communication. My tutoring style depends on the learner's tutoring session's main goal and current level of skills.
