Hi there! I’m Dr. D., a university biology professor with over a decade of experience teaching and tutoring students in subjects such as general biology, ecology, animal physiology and behavior, and evolution. I earned my Ph.D. in Biology from Georgia Tech, where my research explored how climate change influences the behavior and physiology of coastal species like blue crabs and oysters. I currently teach at Georgia State University, where I help both undergraduate and graduate students build a deeper understanding of how biological systems work.

My approach to tutoring emphasizes conceptual clarity, critical thinking, and problem-solving. I believe that anyone can succeed in biology when it’s taught in a way that feels logical and relevant. During our sessions, I use clear explanations, real-world examples, and visual strategies to make complex topics more intuitive. Whether you’re preparing for an AP exam, tackling a college course, or strengthening your study habits, I’ll adapt each lesson to your goals and learning style.

I offer a brief consultation before the first session to discuss your needs and create a personalized plan for success. I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or reschedules. Please feel free to reach out — I’d love to help you build confidence and mastery in biology!

Ecology

Ecology

I hold a Ph.D. in Biology from the Georgia Institute of Technology, where my research explored how climate change affects the physiology, behavior, and interactions of marine species within oyster reef ecosystems. My work examined how warming and ocean acidification influence predator-prey dynamics among blue crabs, mud crabs, and oysters, revealing broader ecological impacts on coastal environments. As an ecologist and university instructor with over a decade of teaching and research experience, I specialize in helping students understand how complex topics—like climate change, ecosystem dynamics, and conservation—connect to real-world environmental challenges. My goal is to make science engaging, relevant, and accessible for learners at all levels.
Environmental Science

Zoology

Zoology

I hold a Ph.D. in Biology from the Georgia Institute of Technology, where my research examined how climate change influences the physiology, behavior, and ecological interactions of marine animals such as blue crabs, mud crabs, and oysters. My work explored how warming and ocean acidification alter predator-prey relationships and animal adaptation, providing insight into the behavioral ecology of coastal species. As a zoologist and university instructor with over a decade of teaching and research experience, I manage the Animal Biology labs at Georgia State University, where I help students connect animal anatomy, physiology, and evolution to real-world ecological systems. My goal is to make zoology engaging and relevant by linking the study of animal diversity and behavior to environmental and conservation issues.
