Hello! My name is Liliana. I graduated magna cum laude from a top liberal arts college with a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Earth and Oceanographic Science. Throughout my education, I noticed you can always tell when someone truly loves the subject they’re teaching. Enthusiasm is contagious, so I bring my genuine enthusiasm for learning to make each lesson a fun and rewarding experience. I can adjust my teaching style to the student’s needs: I can assist with homework, guide students through similar material to the homework, or generate lessons that go above and beyond what the student is learning in class. I use empathy and make sure to explain each concept clearly, checking in frequently to see if students have any questions. I include practice exercises in every lesson to solidify learning and work through any confusion together. I am open to tailoring my style based on any individual needs.
I have two years of tutoring experience teaching Spanish to a middle-school student one-on-one. I worked with him on the topics he learned in Spanish class at school, then expanded on the curriculum to gain deeper mastery of each topic. As a bonus experience, I taught ceramics for many years, which helped me articulate difficult concepts into digestible, bite-sized steps. While my favorite subject is math, I also love Earth Science, Reading, and Writing, and would be happy to help students with any of those subjects. I scored a 1520 on the SATs with a 780 in Math and a 740 in English. In college, I won a writing prize and consistently made the Dean’s list, taking a variety of Science, English, and Math courses.
I hope to find the students I can benefit the most with my academic background and teaching style. To see if we’re a good fit, I’m happy to schedule a free consultation call or answer any questions via Messages. If we work together, I will welcome any suggestions or resources from parents, respond quickly, and remain dedicated to the student’s learning journey.
