My name is Samantha Jerrold. I graduated cum laude with a degree in Early Childhood Education and am certified to teach Pre-K through 5th grade in general education. I am also certified to teach special education for K-12. I have tutored students one-on-one, in small groups, and in a classroom setting (both as a general education teacher and co-teacher).
I have over 15 years experience teaching Pre-K, Kindergarten, and First Grade and am trained in the Orton-Gillinham method (the Science of Reading). I have four years of experience teaching special education and can comfortably work with students with mild to moderate learning disabilities including, but not limited to, dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, ADHD, and Level-1 autism. My diagnostic assessments, data collection, and data-driven interventions make it simple to track progress and make responsive changes to lesson plans.
My greatest passion is developing a love of learning in all students, especially in reading and writing. I enjoy incorporating music into learning with songs and rhythms, sometimes using my ukulele as a tool to increase student engagement. I have had considerable success in teaching foundational math concepts such as place value, number sense, and operations. I look forward to working with students and parents together to create the best plan possible to reach the student's highest potential.
