I have over 10 years of tutoring and educational experience working with students in both one-on-one and classroom settings. I hold a bachelor's degree with an academic background in Psychology and Economics, along with a minor in Spanish. My background in psychology has given me a strong understanding of learning, development, and the different ways students process information, while my studies in economics strengthened my analytical, mathematical, and critical-thinking skills. I began tutoring while I was still in high school and later worked at Kumon, where I helped elementary-aged students strengthen their foundational skills in mathematics and reading.
Since then, I have continued working with students across the K-12 age range through independent tutoring, substitute teaching, and online tutoring with Varsity Tutors. My experience covers a variety of traditional academic subjects, with particular strengths in mathematics, reading, literature, economics, psychology, and Spanish. Working with students of different ages, academic levels, and learning styles has taught me that effective tutoring requires more than simply knowing the material--it requires understanding how to explain it in a way that makes sense to the individual student.
My teaching style is patient, meticulous, and highly individualized. I specialize in taking concepts that may initially seem complicated or overwhelming and breaking them down into their most basic components. Once a student understands those foundations, I gradually connect the pieces and build toward a more complex understanding of the subject. My goal is not simply to help students complete an assignment or memorize an answer, but to help them understand why something works, strengthen their critical-thinking skills, and become more confident and independent learners.
