Hi Everyone! Albertha here and I believe in the process of instill learning in students. As an educator, experienced tutor, and certified teacher I believe in helping all students to be successful by giving them the tools they need to overcome challenges.
I completed both my undergraduate and graduate studies in Mathematics, with high marks in every class. I earned my MS in Mathematics from IUPUI and my BA in Mathematics from Agnes Scott College. I have taught 8th Grade Math and Algebra I at Creston Middle School for four years, earning the recognition of a highly effective teacher each year. I have taught Pre-Calculus, Algebra II, and Geometry to sophomores and juniors at Indiana Gateway Digital Academy.
Over the years, I have also worked as an Adjunct Professor at Ivy Tech Community College, teaching both Trigonometry with Analytical Geometry and Intermediate Algebra. Furthermore, I have tutored Calculus I and Calculus II as an undergraduate at Agnes Scott and at Charles A. Tindley Accelerated School. I’ve had the opportunity to teach math courses to preservice teachers as an Associate Instructor at Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. Most recently, I have worked as a math support coach for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students and developed Summer Math Enrichment Programs for elementary students. I have experience with developing curriculum, designing lessons, establishing class rules and expectations, as well as, mentoring student teachers.
My philosophy is to meet the students where they are and encourage them to not become discouraged: progress happens through hard work and consistency.
