I am a graduate of foreign languages from the University of Havana, including the study of English and French Languages. Most of my career has been around the teaching of English as a foreign or second language. I have passed two academic IELTS exams with a 7.5 score and have also trained students to take that particular exam. I have also worked extensively as a translator and interpreter. My experience as a tutor includes working with the British Council in Havana training people to be able to take both the Academic and the General IELTS Test.

My strategy consists in evaluating the kind of learner I have in front of me and designing a program based on their learning preference. I have taught at all levels including university and have also delivered lectures abroad specially in the areas of Writing and Literature for I, myself, am a published author. My instruction is primarily based on interactions and the fulfillment of communicative skills in a number of different situations so that they are ready to grasp by themselves the notions behind the communicative interactions. I prefer personal interactions rather than online (for lack of a wider experience in that area) but I am also willing to try it out.

About chess, I obtained my first score above 2100 in the early 2000 reaching 2180 around 2002. I have played in national tournaments and have had considerable results including International Masters. After arriving in the US i became involved in Public Schools as a coach and have been helping students and myself to be better at the game and return to competitions. Chess is a huge passion and a natural skill I have and I am more than eager to find players that would like to get better at the game. I also prefer one on one chess lessons but in the case of chess I believe online is a pretty good mode of trying to get better.
