Hi! I'm Duc. I'm a Vietnamese American based in Atlanta, GA.
I graduated magna cum laude from the University of Massachusetts Lowell with my Bachelor's major in Chemistry and a minor in STEM Education. I spent the following semester teaching three Honors Chemistry sections at Andover High School to gain my initial teaching license as part of my student teaching practicum. I focused on using self-regulated learning techniques to help struggling students achieve the course desired outcomes. I was then a long-term Chemistry substitute at the Brooks School before moving to Atlanta where I am working to complete my Master's Degree.
For my teaching philosophy, I am a strong believer of teaching with the goal for transferrable skills outside of the classroom and that all students are capable of improvement and learning. It is my goal to do my best to guide students through the path of improvement and learning.
In terms of my methods, I am well aware of the pervasiveness of the internet and the limitless possibilities that are available to students. I intend to leverage the power of the internet as much as possible to provide my students with the correct resources to succeed. At the same time, I am aware of how confusing the internet can be to navigate with the differing information and it will be my job to help guide my students to retrieve the most accurate and helpful information on the internet. With the exposure of the internet, my goals for individual instruction will be to deconvolute confusion, answer questions, address misconceptions, and to give explanations that the internet may not have.
