Undergraduate Student in STEM Pursuing Career in Oncology Research

Hello, I'm Tala. I am an undergraduate student currently pursuing a career in Oncology Research. I am a undergraduate student member with organizations, one being American Association of Cancer Research and a few others associated with my university. I hope after graduation to pursue a higher education and research for advanced cancer treatments. I found interest in General Science, Anatomy/Physiology, Biology, and Chemistry. I specialize in helping other Undergraduates in their courses. Being able to help others in these subjects is a goal of mines, and I am also interested in yours!

In my undergraduate years so far, I have realized the importance of not only mastering these subjects for good grades, test, and courses but also for the application in our future careers. This requires more than passive learning, that's why in my teaching methodology, I use more active learning techniques. I start with instructional time, where I highlight the objectives and the information is received. I will be teaching while actively putting the notes on the PowerPoint which will be containing the images, graphs, and diagrams we need. As I do that, I encourage students to actively write notes in order to furtherly retain the content. The next part of my lessons will be a prepared activity for the student based on their own learning style, which we will discuss beforehand. Lastly, we will go over the prior objectives, and quiz our understanding and fill in any gaps of knowledge. All study material such as worksheets, practice problems, and PowerPoints are provided by me, so the student and/or parents are completely free to receive extra material complimentary.
