Bio

I'm an incoming PhD student at Georgia Tech, where I study how water flows underneath glaciers. I have a master's and bachelor's degree from MIT, where I studied Materials Engineering and Earth Sciences and minored in writing and South Asian Studies. I use a lot of math and coding in my research, so I'm well-qualified to teach the practical aspects of these subjects to students! I'm a violinist in MIT's Chamber Music Society and have played violin seriously for 15 years. I'm also a photographer and have had my photos featured in various galleries including Vice President Biden's home through a partnership with National Geographic Kids.

I'm passionate about encouraging women and students of color to follow their passions in STEM. From my own firsthand experience, I understand how intimidating these fields can be, especially when people use a lot of jargon and there isn't a lot of representation. I also know how it feels like to struggle really hard in classes, and how helpful it can be to get help from someone who is kind, understanding, and has a solid grasp of the material. I'm committed to providing an environment that is respectful, non-judgmental, and supportive to people of all educational and life backgrounds.

I have TA'ed and mentored for multiple MIT classes and have taught introductory coding to high schoolers. I have also tutored MIT students in ecology and biology and helped them turn their failing grades into passing ones. I was the editor of student writing magazine at MIT, and have helped numerous friends and family with their college applications and essays. I'm also an alumni interviewer for MIT, which gives me a good insight into the college admissions process. I am excited to teach high school and AP-level (college level) physics, chemistry, math, biology, and computer programming. I am also extremely excited to teach ecology, environmental science, and writing. I am also more than happy to provide instruction in violin performance and photography. I hope to meet you soon!!
