I have always had a passion for helping students with their math. While working on my Bachelor's of Science degree in Mathematics, I taught Intermediate Algebra to incoming college students. This is when I discovered my passion for teaching and tutoring math to students who were struggling. I continued teaching and tutoring students at several levels including, high school, college and even my own classmates. I then went to get my Master's Degree in Applied Mathematics while teaching undergraduate linear algebra courses and taking on a Teaching Assistant position for college calculus courses. I have tutored various levels and subjects including Algebra, Precalculus, Calculus, Linear Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry.
I pride myself in the ability to break down complicated concepts into smaller, simpler pieces that are easier to digest. I have a unique ability to find new and creative ways to explain concepts and methods. I've found that these skills along with patience are extremely important and effective when working with students who are struggling with math. I believe the better a student truly understands the problem and solution, the less they have to rely on memorization and will be able to handle versions of problems that could appear on a test that would otherwise throw them off.
One of the main obstacles for students is their fear and lack of confidence. In addition finding ways to explain math concepts to students in a way they can understand it, I also work on removing fear and building their confidence so they can absorb the material better. Now let's have some fun and solve some math problems.
