I am a highly motivated and aspiring PhD trained neuropathologist, who is passionate about investigating potential therapies in dementia-related diseases. Currently, I am completing my PhD in Neuroscience at the Medical University of South Carolina where I actively engage in research related to post-stroke cognitive impairment (PSCI) and vascular dementia. My previous and current educational experiences have inspired me to incorporate my scientific knowledge to educate various audiences and simplify complex concepts.

During my graduate program, I have the privilege to mentor and tutor first year grad students and post-baccalaureate interns in our core curriculum biomedical sciences courses. Additionally, I am a research mentor/advisor for Polygence, Inc. where I assist high school students on formulating research projects, applying scientific concepts in writing, and conducting thorough literature searches. During my undergraduate experience, I had the opportunity to become a biology peer tutor for the College of Sciences and Technology at Savannah State University. This allowed me to learn various teaching styles that can help all students from diverse backgrounds.

Although my research focuses on dementia-related disease, I have been able to expand my technical skills and knowledge on neuroanatomy and physiology and how to properly communicate these concepts in a relatable manner. I have received over $120,000 in grant funding from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, which required communicating scientific concepts effectively. My scientific knowledge in biology, cell mechanisms, and anatomy will help steer students in the right direction!

Since I have become a researcher, I have received over 5 presentation awards while presenting my research at an array of national, international, and local biomedical conferences. These awards were based off the presenter's ability to thoroughly answer questions from diverse audiences with individuals from different fields and if the present
