My name is Olivia and I am incredibly excited to work with you! English/Language Arts and writing are fairly polarizing subjects-- students either love it or hate it. I view tutoring as an integral supplement to full classroom instruction that allows students to really grow their craft and refine their authorial voice. I spend time at the beginning of all of my appointments setting individual goals with students and then developing a plan that helps us navigate them together. My teaching style as well as the structure and pace of the lesson are determined by what needs to be done in order to achieve these goals.

I earned a B.A. in English and B.S.Ed in English Education from University of Georgia in 2021. I complete my M.Ed. in English Education in 2022. I am certified to teacher 6th-12th grade English/Language Arts, and I have been working as a public school 7th grade English Teacher for the last 5 years. I have experience working with special education, general education, honors/advanced, and ELL students. My dual degrees mean that I am well versed in collegiate and secondary school curriculum. I am familiar with most of the literature used in middle and high school classrooms across America; so, I can help with reading comprehension and analysis across a wide array of titles and genres.

I worked as an undergraduate writing tutor at my university's Academic Resource Center from 2018-2022. where I tutored undergraduate and graduate students in one on one and small group settings. I can assist with a variety of types of writing, including: literary analysis essays, cover letters, resumes, lab reports, and application statements (I am also more than willing to take a crack at any other type of writing not listed). I am very flexible and able to help writers at any stage of the writing process from brainstorming to drafting to proofreading.
