I earned a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Physiology from the University of Georgia, where I developed a strong foundation in human physiology, anatomy, biology, and other health science disciplines. In addition to my academic training, I hold Medical Assistant and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications and have gained hands-on clinical experience working in healthcare settings. My educational background and clinical experience allow me to connect complex scientific concepts to real-world applications, helping students develop a deeper understanding of the material they are learning.
For one year, I served as a Peer Learning Assistant for undergraduate physiology courses at the University of Georgia. In this role, I worked closely with course professors to develop lesson plans, create study guides, and incorporate active learning strategies into classroom instruction. Rather than providing answers, I guided students through the learning process by asking questions that encouraged critical thinking and helped them identify the reasoning behind physiological concepts. I led review sessions for groups of students and also provided individualized academic support, helping students improve both their content knowledge and their study habits.
My tutoring approach is grounded in evidence-based teaching practices. Through specialized coursework and training, I learned how to implement active learning techniques, foster a growth mindset, encourage metacognitive learning strategies, utilize assessment methods to identify areas for improvement, maintain professionalism, and build positive tutor-student relationships. I strive to create an encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing confidence in their abilities. My goal is not only to help students succeed in a particular course but also to equip them with effective study strategies and problem-solving skills that will benefit them throughout their academic careers.
