I have been teaching and tutoring students as part of my graduate education for several years now. What initially was just a way to get funding for my degree turned into a lifelong love of teaching. In terms of my credentials, I hold an Masters and Bachelors degrees in Biology as well as a BA in English. Most of my teaching experience is in biology centered labs, but I have a wide variety of knowledge on evolution, genetics, microbiology, and organismal biology. As a hobby, I pride myself on being a game master for a wide variety of tabletop roleplaying games like Dungeons & Dragons and Call of Cthulhu. I believe that my experience as a game master is transferable to teaching because preparation for a lesson plan and giving space for students to explore concepts are also part of facilitating a session of gaming with friends.
Teaching is something that I deeply value and I will strive to create a learning environment where a student can feel comfortable asking me any question. Every question I will answer and for stuff that I can't answer in the moment, you'll get a full answer from me at a later date.
Since tutoring is a more direct and shorter term relationship, I'd like for a student to send me an entry ticket detailing the material they're struggling with. That'll give me a foundation of knowledge to start with and we'll drill down on other material as we go through our meetings.
