Hi! I’m Alexis, a fourth-year Genetics PhD candidate with a Bachelor’s in Biology and a minor in Physics. I have 7+ of experience mentoring and teaching undergraduates, both in research labs and as a TA for college-level Genetics courses, where I’ve taught more than 80 students.
I’ve worked with learners from all backgrounds, each with unique goals and learning styles. My teaching philosophy is centered on meeting students where they are and building a strong foundation—without skipping steps. I believe true understanding comes from grasping both the big-picture ideas and the finer details that connect them.
During sessions, I check in regularly to ensure my students are keeping up and feeling confident. I adjust my teaching style to suit their needs and use whatever strategies are most effective for them—whether that’s drawing out a process, walking through practice problems, or finding the “why” behind the concept.
I’m passionate about science communication and love helping students feel empowered in subjects that once felt overwhelming. Let’s work together to turn confusion into clarity and build real confidence in your learning!
