My educational background is in biomedical science, chemistry, and biotechnology. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Applied Biotechnology from the University of Georgia, with minors in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences, graduating in May 2025. I am currently pursuing a Master of Science in Biomedical Science and Enterprise on the thesis track at Georgia State University, where I am currently doing lab based research on vaccinations for Neisseria gonorrhoeae. I I am also CRLA certified, which reflects formal training in tutoring practices, student support, and effective learning strategies.
I have been tutoring and teaching since August 2023 through my roles as a Chemistry Learning Assistant and Peer Tutor at the University of Georgia. As a Chemistry Learning Assistant, I supported instruction for Organic Chemistry I and II by helping undergraduate students work through difficult concepts, practice problems, and exam preparation in a classroom and small-group setting. As a Peer Tutor, I tutored undergraduate students in Organic Chemistry, Biology, Genetics, and Medical Mycology, often in one-on-one or small-group sessions.
My teaching approach focuses on breaking complex scientific concepts into simpler steps, identifying where a student is confused, and adapting my explanations to their learning style. I often use guided practice, visual explanations, example problems, and active questioning to help students build confidence instead of just memorizing answers. Because many of the students I worked with were college students taking challenging STEM courses, I also focused on study strategies, test preparation, and helping students feel less overwhelmed by difficult material.
