Hi! My name is Shirley and I am currently a senior pursuing my Bachelor's Degree in Piano Performance at the University of Georgia. I have experience teaching one-on-one piano lessons to students ranging from beginner to advanced levels (ages K-12), utilizing effective pedagogical methods to develop note-reading, technique, musicality, and music theory skills. This past February, I also prepared students for successful participation and performance in the National Federation of Music Clubs Festival. Throughout my musical journey, I have been a prizewinner in local and state-wide competitions, including the GMTA State Auditions and UGA's Edge Piano Competition. Recent performances include Steinway Hall in New York City and the 60th American Liszt Society Festival held at UGA. I have performed in masterclasses for distinguished artists such as Yong Hi Moon, Marina Lomazov, and Isata Kanneh-Mason.

Music History

As a Music Performance student, I have taken various courses in music history and literature. The courses include Music in the Western Tradition Pre-1750 (Antiquity through Baroque), Post-1750 (Classical through Contemporary), Music in the United States, History of Popular Music, and Piano Literature. These classes require extensive writing assignments and presentations, which helped me research and become more well-versed in the subjects.
