In my varying roles as a public school teacher, head of the Gifted and Talented Program, homeschooler, and professor of composition, I have taught writing to learners of all levels from gifted kindergarten to university and tutored over eight years both in-person and online from ESL to business English, academic ELA, college admissions tests, and college application essays. I am certified to teach Preschool-5th and English 6th-12th.
In the SAT Reading & Writing and ACT English & Reading tutoring, I waterproof holes in grammar while teaching strategies that optimize time in answer selection. My students, whether they had come to me with an SAT composite below 1000 or were preparing for a reputable private university, have jumped almost 200 points although results of course vary. In the college application essays, I have also tutored students who struggle to write a complete sentence and others who were accepted to coveted private universities including the Ivy Leagues. Through a holistic approach, I sharpen craft while facilitating self-awareness to deepen content. I help with all stages of the essay process as well as just the final edit upon request.
I am also a book editor and writer whose narratives, commentary, articles, and poetry feature in magazines and anthologies, digital and print. I have led writing workshops for teachers at conferences and present on great college essays in Fulton, Gwinnett, and Forsyth school districts in Georgia.
