Hi. I'm Sarah. I've been a teacher for my entire adult life. I graduated from Valdosta State University with a B.A. in English and a minor in Anthropology in 2003. I studied abroad in Belize while working on my undergraduate degree. I was invited to share my research and a paper I wrote entitled, Constructing and Consuming Nature at VSU's 2003 Undergraduate Symposium for Research. I was a staff reporter for The Blazer, our college newspaper as well. During that time, I was a private tutor for family, working with their three children ages 7-13.
I continued my education at VSU and received my teacher certification in grades 7-12 English.
I have taught high school English for 9 years and had tremendous showing "growth" with my students in state mandated tests. I had 3rd highest growth overall in 2014 in DOCO schools, a large school district with 20+ schools.
I have experience teaching journalism and Reading support at the high school level and have written curriculum for ELA in two different school districts.
I love teaching and especially love helping non-readers develop a love for reading.
