My tutoring experience began informally through peer tutoring in high school, working one-on-one with classmates in math and science. I have worked primarily with high school students aged 14-18, helping them build foundational understanding in chemistry, biology, and algebra-based physics — the same subjects that appear on the SAT, ACT, and AP exams. My approach focuses on identifying exactly where a student's understanding breaks down rather than just reteaching content from the top, which tends to be more efficient and less frustrating for the student.
I work best in one-on-one settings where I can adapt the pace and explanation style to the individual. For standardized test prep specifically, I emphasize pattern recognition and process of elimination strategies alongside content review, since the SAT and ACT reward test-taking skills as much as raw knowledge. My goal in every session is for the student to leave understanding the "why" behind a concept, not just the steps.
