Greetings, my name is Matt! I am currently teaching math and science at a charter school in Tampa, Florida. Due to the school’s block schedule, I teach a wide range of courses at once, including middle school pre-algebra, high school Algebra II, and chemistry.
In addition to classroom teaching, I am actively tutoring approximately ten of my high school students for the SAT. This has allowed me to develop a strong, practical understanding of the exam and what students need to do to succeed. Through this experience, I have gained a flexible set of instructional strategies that help me support students with varying skill levels and learning styles.
My teaching philosophy is centered on the belief that learning cannot be forced. I place a strong emphasis on building positive teacher-student relationships and creating an environment where students feel supported, engaged, and confident. I believe education does not need to be stressful or unenjoyable, and I strive to help students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and growing academically.
I am a fully certified teacher and hold a master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering. I am also a published scientist, with a paper in the International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, and I graduated from university cum laude. During my undergraduate studies, I privately tutored fellow engineering students and also worked as a tutor through my university.
If you’re interested in working together or have any questions, feel free to reach out. I respond quickly and am always happy to discuss goals, scheduling, or how I can best support a student’s success.
