My name is James C. I graduated from the University of Central Florida in 2020 with a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and I have been tutoring mathematics for over 5 years. I began tutoring in 2015 when I was hired by my college (FSCJ) to assist students with their course work at the campus library. My name is James C. I graduated from the University of Central Florida in 2020 with a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and I have been tutoring mathematics for over 5 years. I began tutoring in 2015 when I was hired by my college (FSCJ) to assist students with their course work at the campus library. After acquiring the foundational skills to be a tutor and moving away to attend University, I decided to start tutoring privately. I began with only a couple of students, but have helped countless college and high school students finish their Mathematics based courses with a grade that they can be proud of.

I have found that many students that seek out a tutor for math-based courses, simply need someone to step them through the process of solving a problem or understanding a new concept. They learn by working through the problem themselves, rather than by watching their teacher/professor explain it. Understanding this is key to my style of tutoring. My students often express that I have given them a clearer understanding of a problem that they are struggling with after I explain to them how to view the problem from a better or different perspective.

As I noted above, I have been tutoring Math for over 5 years. The majority of my students have been High School and College students in Basic Math, Algebra, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus courses.

My tutoring style is highly customized based on the needs and learning style of my students, but is overall fairly laid-back and friendly. It is often the case that my students and I will find ways to make jokes during a tutoring session to keep the mood relaxed, rather than stressful while grappling with new or difficult material. I have had a spectacular 3 years with James. He has done a great job helping me not only get a great grade in math, but also understand the material better than my current math teacher could ever do. He's never late to lessons and being a busy athlete, he is very flexible with time changes and scheduling. He knows his stuff very well, not constantly googling or looking up answers or steps to solve problems like other math tutors i've had in the past.
