For close to two decades, my work has centered on a core belief: true education equips students to inquire, analyze, and construct their own understanding. My foundation rests on rigorous academic preparation. I hold a Ph.D. in Education (Social Studies Education focus) and an M.A. in Teaching from the University of Central Florida, alongside B.A. degrees in History and Journalism & Media Studies from Rutgers University. I hold active teaching certifications in Florida and New Jersey, with specialized endorsements in Gifted Education and Instructional Coaching. This background ensures every session is grounded in learning science and standards-aligned strategy.
Throughout 16+ years of teaching and leadership, I have worked with diverse learners across varied instructional settings. My experience spans middle and high school students (ages 11–18) in public schools, where I taught social studies, history, and advanced coursework, as well as undergraduate and adult learners in university settings. Beyond the classroom, I have logged extensive hours in one-on-one tutoring, small-group intervention, and instructional coaching. Whether guiding a middle schooler through primary source analysis, mentoring an AP student on essay structure, or supporting an adult learner, I adapt my pacing to meet the individual where they are.
My teaching methodology is rooted in inquiry-based learning and scaffolded support. Rather than relying on rote memorization, I use targeted questioning, case studies, and structured frameworks to help students unpack complex topics. In a typical one-on-one session, I diagnose a student’s learning style and identify underlying gaps. From there, I build actionable, bite-sized strategies - using graphic organizers, interactive modeling, and real-world connections - that foster critical thinking and lasting confidence. My goal is to create an engaging environment where students master the tools to teach themselves.
