Hello and welcome! My name is Lauryn, and I’m a certified secondary English teacher with a passion for helping students grow in confidence and skill through reading, writing, and critical thinking.
I graduated cum laude from the University of Central Florida with degrees in Secondary Education and English Literature. I’m also ESOL certified and reading endorsed—qualifications that have shaped the way I approach instruction with flexibility, patience, and a deep understanding of language development.
I spent three years in the classroom, first teaching Honors English for 9th and 10th graders at Oviedo High School, and then serving as both the AP English Literature and Composition teacher and the AP English Language and Composition teacher at Walden Community School. During my time there, I had the joy of watching my AP students score 4s and 5s on their exams—proof of what’s possible when curiosity and hard work come together.
Alongside my classroom experience, I’ve been tutoring students in reading and writing for over five years. I’ve worked one-on-one with learners of all levels—from elementary reading comprehension to high school and college essay writing, as well as SAT and ACT prep. My teaching philosophy centers on creating a welcoming environment where students feel safe to ask questions, explore new ideas, and make mistakes as part of the learning process. I believe that when we approach education with curiosity and care, both students and teachers become lifelong learners.
If you’re looking for someone who’s not only experienced, but truly invested in helping students thrive, I’d love to connect with you!
