Hi! I'm Hannah.

I have a lot of fun teaching and learning math. I am a hardworking, honest, and trustworthy person. I have worked with kids as young as four all the way up to mature students going back to school to get their masters degrees! I am also good at self-teaching, so if there is a topic you need help with that I haven't seen before, I am confident that I can learn it quickly. I am a relatable person and very easy to talk to.

Hi! I'm Hannah.

I have a lot of fun teaching and learning math. I am a hardworking, honest, and trustworthy person. I have worked with kids as young as four all the way up to mature students going back to school to get their masters degrees! I am also good at self-teaching, so if there is a topic you need help with that I haven't seen before, I am confident that I can learn it quickly. I am a relatable person and very easy to talk to.

My cumulative GPA in high school was 4.33 and I was ranked in the top ten percent. I have five IB Certificates and my scores were all 5 and above. I was a member of National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society.

I was also accepted into prestigious universities including Carnegie Mellon University and New York University.

At Carnegie Mellon, I was on the Dean's List with High Honors in both fall 2017 and spring 2018. I was a member of Lambda Sigma and a Dietrich College Peer Advisor. I also played on the varsity tennis team and was an ITA Scholar.

While tutoring, I will make sure to implement the values I use to keep myself working hard in my own studies:

1. Learning anything is a process. It's not going to happen overnight, but a tutor can certainly help!
2. Challenges make us better people! Math is difficult at times, but it's also fun when you look at it the right way.
3. Hard work and attitude means a lot more than talent.

I also have a British accent and neat handwriting if that makes me more appealing. :)

I have a lot of experience teaching all of the mathematical topics on the Accuplacer test. I have helped a lot of students in subjects ranging from elementary math up through calculus. I can also teach geometry and statistics. I find all of these topics very fun and easy to explain.

I have taken college calculus courses all the way up to calculus III. I have also taken and tutored statistics classes that involve the applications of calculus. The subject became fun for me when I started to intuitively understand where the formulas were coming from and why they were useful.
Elementary Math

I have spent a lot of time working with children as young as four years old and all the way through to fifth grade. I find creative ways to keep kids engaged and interested in math. I am also a very good communicator and find it easy to work with them and explain concepts on their level.

I like to draw pictures to explain the "why" behind geometry. I have helped lots of people grasp the intuition behind certain concepts and theorems so it actually makes sense and isn't something they feel like they are obligated to memorize.
GRE

GRE

I am very comfortable with teaching all of the mathematical concepts on the GRE test. I have been exposed to the topics for quite a long time, both within my own studies and in tutoring as well. I have helped lots of students increase their confidence in questions they find more difficult, which results in fewer nerves before the test and improved scores.
Probability

I have taken calculus-based probability courses that integrated (no pun intended) difficult combination and permutation problems, probability laws, and the understanding of discrete and continuous random variables and their respective mass/density functions. I have been able to help students with these types of problems by breaking down each step and reinforcing the intuition behind what is actually going on. I have found that I highly enjoy these types of probability problems because they require some critical thinking and logic as well as mathematics.

I have a lot of experience teaching both introductory and higher-level statistics classes. Some of the courses I took to get my statistics degree included probability, statistical theory, regression analysis, and categorical data analysis. Thanks to stats, I also know my way around the Greek alphabet if you're interested in that too. :)
