Hello! I am a BS/MD student with a strong academic background in the sciences and a passion for helping students succeed on the MCAT and SAT/ACT math. I recently took the MCAT and earned a 130 in Chemical and Physical Foundations (C/P) and a 132 in Biological and Biochemical Foundations (B/B), which are the two sections I specialize in tutoring. Studying for the MCAT can be stressful, but having gone through the process myself, I know study techniques that make preparation more effective....
Studying for the MCAT can be stressful, but having gone through the process myself, I know study techniques that make preparation more effective.
My tutoring approach is highly structured and exam-focused. For MCAT students, I emphasize identifying the core science concept each question asks about and extracting relevant passage information. I will also help you recognize patterns in questions and avoid traps. We start with a diagnostic of discrete and passage-based questions to establish a baseline. I structure my sessions differently for each student depending on their comfort level with the content and target MCAT score. When I teach my students, I focus on high-yield topics, but I would be more than happy to cover lower-yield topics if I sense that a student already feels comfortable with most of the high-yield information and is targeting a 515+ score. Additionally, I would provide you with videos to watch and practice questions to work on between sessions to help with remembering content. Strategy matters, but it only works when you are comfortable with the content. I strongly encourage students to practice discrete questions to keep subtle but important MCAT details in mind.
In addition to MCAT tutoring, I can tutor mathematics up to Calculus 2, including SAT/ACT math, helping you build both procedural fluency and problem-solving confidence. I have prior experience working as a Learning Assistant for Calculus 1, where I helped students break down complex topics and develop exam strategies. Whether you are studying for the MCAT, SAT, ACT, or struggling with a math class, I am here to help. Please reach out to me on Wyzant - I look forward to working with you
