I am a certified math teacher with over 17 years of experience teaching in Florida public schools, and a Master's Degree in Mathematics Education from Florida Atlantic University. I specialize in helping students succeed in:
Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, and SAT Preparation
As a tutor, I begin by assessing each student's current level of understanding to identify strengths and areas for growth. Based on this assessment I design a personalized learning plan focused on building a strong mathematical foundation. From there, I guide students through key vocabulary, concepts, and problem-solving processes aligned with their course standards. I typically begin with simpler examples, then gradually progress to more complex problems that may involve multiple steps, connections between topics, and real-world applications.
My teaching approach emphasizes clear explanations, structured progression, and supportive guidance. With pacing and carefully selected practice, I help students build both competence and confidence in math. What sets me apart is my combination of over 17 years of classroom experience, a Master's Degree in Mathematics Education, and my ability to teach in both English and Spanish. My ultimate goal is for students not only to improve their performance, but also to develop confidence and experience the satisfaction of truly understanding math.

Approved Subjects

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I taught algebra 1 for three years, then Geometry for 5 years, and Algebra 2 for 2 years. I currently teach the juniors and seniors IB Mathematics Applications and Interpretation; which compiles Algebra, Geometry and Statistics
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

After teaching Algebra 1 and Geometry, I taught Algebra 2 for 3 years. I love it because students get to apply in the real world all the mathematical concepts they have learned. I am currently teaching IB Math Applications and Interpretation, which revisits the algebra concepts and goes more in depth about the main concepts.
Geometry

Geometry

I taught Geometry for 5 years in Palm Beach country. After that, I taught Algebra 2. Currently I teach IB Math Applications and Interpretation, which covers advanced concepts of Algebra and Geometry and applications in the real world. I teach students test taking strategies, time management and how to make the most efficient use of formulas and technology, like calculators, Desmos or GeoGebra.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I have taught all math courses from 6th Grade, where we spend a big chunk of the year doing fractions, decimals and percents, to senior IB Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation, where we apply derivatives and integrals to real-world problems. I specialize in preparing my students to succeed on standardized tests (Florida EOCs, IB Papers 1 and 2) by promoting understanding of key concepts, building confidence, and teaching test-taking strategies, like optimizing the use of time and technology (graphing calculators). Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Geometry form the core of the SAT math section — courses I have extensive experience teaching. I am preparing myself to take the SAT, not because I am applying for college, but because I want to score in the 98+ percentile. In my preparation, I have gotten very familiar with the SAT resources: KhanAcademy and the SAT Prep Guide, which have the same test as the Bluebook practice test
