Hello! My name is David, and I am a licensed professional mechanical engineer working in renewable energy! I am very passionate about STEM subjects and have over five years of tutoring experience. Whether you are tackling algebra, exploring physics, or preparing for standardized tests like the SAT or ACT, I am here to guide you every step of the way!

In 2022, I graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. In college, I developed a deep understanding of STEM concepts and tutored student-athletes, assisting them with a range of related subjects. Prior to that, I tutored high school students for three years in math and physics, including AP Calculus BC and AP Physics C. These experiences have equipped me to teach students across diverse age groups and learning levels.

My academic achievements include a 3.86/4.0 engineering GPA, a 35 on the ACT Math section (and 35 overall ACT), a perfect 800 on the SAT Subject Test in Physics, and a 5 on AP Physics C, AP Calculus BC, and AP Physics 2 exams. I was also honored with a National AP Scholar Award!

Something that really sets me apart as a tutor is my ability to adapt lessons to different learning styles and personalities. Whether you are a visual learner or someone who thrives on step-by-step explanations, I can tailor our sessions to suit your needs. I break down complex topics into manageable pieces for better understanding and retention. In addition to this, I create a very comfortable and engaging learning environment. My students often praise my friendliness and approachability, fostering a positive and stress-free atmosphere. I love helping students recognize that subjects they initially find challenging are well within their capabilities and watching their confidence grow as we progress.

I am excited to work with you, whether virtually or in person. Together, we will tackle challenges, strengthen your understanding, and set you on the path to success!

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

Algebraic concepts have been the foundation of my entire academic and professional career. From taking Algebra 1 in middle school, to finishing my bachelor’s in mechanical engineering, to utilizing algebra in my every day work as a renewable energy engineer, I have always stayed sharp in the subject and close to its material. Over the years, I have tutored numerous high school and undergraduate students in algebra, following many different curriculums for the subject. I often find that when I break down each problem into its most basic arithmetic, all of my students gain clarity and confidence within the course. I can attribute a strong core knowledge of algebra to acing all my high school math courses from geometry to differential equations, scoring a 35 on ACT Math, and even excelling at presenting mathematic information to others in my professional career. I can assure that my vast experience with algebra allows me to tailor each lesson to a student’s needs, which always promotes successful retention of the subject.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

Throughout my academic and professional career, Algebra has been at the forefront of my work. I have 5+ years of experience teaching students in Algebra I, Algebra II, Trigonometry, and Regents Algebra. In addition to this, I continue to use Algebra in my everyday work as a mechanical engineer. Algebra is the most core fundamental topic of all mathematics. I have a deep appreciation for the subject. Having taught and assisted students in algebra classes of many different levels, I have strong confidence that I am able to break all topics down into their most basic steps and improve any students' performance. Let's work together and accomplish your goals!
Calculus

Calculus

In high school, I achieved a 5 on the AP Calculus BC exam and aced Calculus 3 and Differential Equations dual enrollment courses prior to starting college. During this time period, I tutored my fellow peers from local high schools in calculus classes. Afterwards, I continued to utilize calculus concepts throughout my college degree in mechanical engineering. There, I continued teaching the subject to classmates during study sessions and colleagues in the student-athlete tutoring center. Calculus is an incredibly important cornerstone topic of mathematics. I have a deep sense of appreciation for the subject. Having taught and assisted students in calculus classes of many different levels, I have strong confidence that I am able to break all topics down into their most basic steps and improve any students' performance. Let's work together and accomplish your goals!
Geometry

Geometry

After acing my first Geometry course in high school, I went on to immediately tutor fellow high school students in the subject. Geometry is an incredibly important fundamental topic of mathematics, and it has appeared in nearly every subject covered within my engineering degree! Having now taught and assisted numerous students in many different Geometry classes, I have strong confidence that I am able to break all topics down into their most basic steps and improve any students' performance. Let's work together and accomplish your goals!
Physics

Physics

Throughout my academic career, I progressed through AP Physics 1, 2, and C, obtaining a 4 on the AP Physics 1 exam and a 5 on the AP Physics 2 and C Exams. Afterwards, physics remained at the core of my coursework throughout my bachelor's in mechanical engineering with subjects such as statics, dynamics, circuits, heat transfer, mechanical design, and more! I have tutored several years of high school honors and AP Physics to different students, following many different curriculums for the subject. This has provided me with a strong sense of familiarity to alternative ways of teaching physics. Most importantly, this has also allowed me to teach the subject according to how a class teacher is progressing through concepts and what learning style my student has. In addition to this, my work experience as an engineer in renewable energy allows me to provide real life applications of lessons learned in physics, which greatly promotes retention of material and interest in the subject. I feel confident that with proper tailoring of a lesson, any student can absorb and retain these concepts.
Precalculus

Precalculus

In high school, I aced my Pre-Calculus course before going on to achieve a 5 on the AP Calculus BC exam. During this time period, I tutored my fellow peers from local high schools in Pre-Calculus classes. Afterwards, I continued to utilize Pre-Calculus concepts throughout my college degree in mechanical engineering. There, I continued teaching the subject to classmates during study sessions and colleagues in the student-athlete tutoring center. Pre-Calculus is an incredibly important gateway topic of mathematics. Having taught and assisted students in many different Pre-Calculus classes, I have strong confidence that I am able to break all topics down into their most basic steps and improve any students' performance. Great Tutor and Very Patient

Currently I am taking Physics without Calculus and David is absolutely a great tutor and explains topics very well, in depth, and is very patient. I have currently taken 2 sessions with him so far and will continue to use him. He is also such a nice person as well, doing everything he can to go out of his way to help you understand a topic. If you send your study information before hand, it makes the session so much easier for him because he prepares before hand, which allows him to set up a study plan for the session. Would recommend!
