Bio

Greetings! I am Berline, a third year Social Work major at the illustrious Florida A&M University. As a social work student, I was required to take a science course, I tried my luck and decided to take chemistry 1020/1025 and it was fate! I excelled in the course and began tutoring my classmates, which eventually led to an offer to officially work as a tutor for FAMU's science lab. I completed the course at the top of my class. I find chemistry interesting and quite fun (once you get the hang of it). I have been tutoring Fundamentals of Chemistry (CHM 1020/1025) for a year now. I work with students one-on-one for more personalized help. I also host group study sessions for students before exams. I pride myself in helping students reach success and realizing they are much more capable than they give themselves credit for.

My tutoring methods include breaking concepts down completely, think of it as learning the fundamentals to the fundamentals. It is vital to understand why concepts work the way they do, this ensures students can solve a problem no matter how it is written or presented. When you can answer the "why" no question is too complicated. I also have students explain to me how to solve a problem, this ensures that they truly understand the concept and allows me to see their line of thinking to point out any flaws in reasoning or applaud their newfound knowledge. Explaining also helps with retention of information. I understand chemistry can be a difficult subject, but with my tutoring skills, a sheet of paper, a pencil, and a calculator, nothing is impossible! Please reach out if you have any further questions, I am more than happy and prepared to help you all succeed :)
