Hi, I’m Dara. Passionate about working with children, after graduating from the University of Pennsylvania, I went on to pursue a master’s degree at Bank Street College of Education, specializing in Early Childhood Education. In my teaching, I try to foster a delight and love in learning through teachable moments, building confidence, independence, encouraging curiosity, and enabling each child to be proactive in his or her own growth and development. An ardent and devoted early childhood educator, I feel extremely lucky to work with children, bringing my rich and varied skills into their lives.
Becoming an educator was not solely about teaching a specific subject matter, but more about the intangible connections that are created, from both encouragement and trust. For a student, simply knowing someone is there to aid, assist, and cheer them on by genuinely believing in them, ultimately leads to inner growth and strength. Over the years, I have had the privilege to work in rich and varied classroom environments, from a 2/3s classroom to second grade. Through each of my unique experiences, I have learned to work cooperatively with my directors, fellow teachers, students, as well as with their parents.
I easily develop repour and connections with each of my students and can adapt and plan each of my tutoring sessions, depending on the individual needs of the student. I can assist with reading, writing, grammar, reading comprehension, phonics, spelling, math, as well as with homework. I have continued to fine tune my skills and further my understanding of the diverse ways that each child learns. With my dedicated work ethic and accomplishments in teaching, I am truly excited to take advantage of and be able to use my expertise in a personalized way, tutoring one-on-one.
