Both undergraduate and MBA students of accounting typically face the same basic issue: Accounting is a "foreign language" to them. They are right, and I can help them learn the language. While accounting involves very simple math (arithmetic), it's really more of a reading class. Not understanding the language will lead to incorrect or at least very skewed results. Work with me, and learn to read (speak) accounting, which is the ultimate language of all business!

Work with me, and learn to read (speak) accounting, which is the ultimate language of all business!

I can be your "go-to" for your accounting courses. I have availability weekdays and weekends. Previously a CPA who worked at KPMG and a small-business owner, I am now professor of accounting at a local college. I have also worked in several industries (commercial real estate, rental cars, healthcare technology) as an accountant. I have been tutoring for over 25 years, since 1996, in accounting and a few other areas. I do not currently offer tutoring for the uniform CPA exams, but I may in the future.

As mentioned above, I believe in teaching the "why" of accounting topics. This is because being able to remember and do accounting transactions is both easier to remember and easier to actually do when you know why you are doing it. Many tutors don't follow this approach. Instead, they just give you lists of rules/steps with no explanation as to why the rules exist in the first place. That may cause your homework to be done quickly, but it will leave you high and dry when it comes to exams and, most importantly, when it comes to doing accounting in the real world.
