My real love for teaching began as a homeschool mom living in Germany for 7 years while my husband worked as a DOD civilian for the U.S. The world was our classroom and we traveled all over Europe mostly by train. Integrating diverse cultures of Germany, Italy, Poland, Ireland, England and other places we visited enriched his learning. I continued his education stateside and became part of a homeschool community for socialization. By the time my son was in 6th grade he truly owned his education (self-motivated) and reached academic independence. This is the ultimate goal for every student...to instill a love for learning and the reward for me was to watch this happen. When he was 16 he decided to attend public school and I supported his decision. These were the best years of my life and I miss it. That is why I am a substitute teacher now and will have my Master's degree in education by December 2020 with Florida certification. I am still considered an employee of SDIRC.
My professional disposition complies with InTASC 9(o) to fully understand teacher expectations for ethical behavior in classroom instruction, to consistently maintain a professional standard of practice, and to comply with relevant laws and policies (CCSSO, 2011). I understand the importance of advocating social justice and objectivity, confidentiality, and fairness in student assessment. I strongly believe that all students can learn and will set realistic goals for the highest level of student achievement.
