Teaching German is my passion. I come from a German heritage, so I enjoy sharing my love of the language and culture. My experiences have included the following: I was the high school German Program Head and Teacher of all Levels at a college-prep boys school for six years (2005-2011). In that capacity, I revitalized, designed, and implemented the curriculum AP German Language 4, Honors German 3, German 2, German 1. I am a trained Advanced Placement AP teacher of German -- student scores averaged 4.714 (2010). During my time as a teacher, I also worked as the coordinator of an annual GAPP German Exchange Program with Wiesbaden, Germany. I am an active member of Sister Cities of Nashville, The American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages ACTFL, The Tennessee Foreign Language Teachers’ Association TFLTA, and The American Association of Teachers of German AATG. Each year of instruction, I received recognition and commendation from AATG for students’ performance in the AATG National Testing and Awards Program, 2006-2011. Other awards and recognition related to my qualifications include: -Tennessee Duden Award- 2009 -Awarded by TN AATG and Duden for outstanding effort & achievement in German instruction -J. William Fulbright Scholar to Germany – 2004-2005 -J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board & The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the United States Department of State Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany -Zertifikat Deutsch fuer den Beruf (ZDfB) – 2004 -Goethe Institute Chicago - successful completion of examination and certification designed to measure competency in German business related communicative situations I look forward to helping students of German learn to love the language and reach their greatest potential as Deutschschueler!
