My name is Christian, and I have tutored mathematics for about seven years. I hold two bachelor's degrees from Marquette University, in Information Technology and in Operations and Supply Chain Management, and I completed an online certificate program in machine learning through MIT. I am largely a self-taught mathematician who spent years working through calculus, probability, and statistics on my own, so I learned the advanced material the same careful way I now teach it. That is why I can tutor high school math, including Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, and Statistics, along with SAT, ACT, and ASVAB prep and college math through Calculus 2.
Most of my experience has been at a local tutoring center, where I became the instructor assigned to the hardest cases. I teach both one-on-one and in small groups of students at a similar level, and over the years I have worked with hundreds of students, some of them for years as they grew up. They have mostly been middle and high schoolers, with some elementary and college-level learners. I have real experience with autistic and neurodiverse students, students who battle math anxiety or low confidence, and gifted students who need a bigger challenge. My approach is to find the specific gaps a student has rather than reteach everything, then build from what they already know. I put more weight on steady, directed effort than on the idea that some people are not math people, because I have repeatedly watched students who arrived sure they were bad at math turn into honors students.
One recent student shows how I work. A high school sophomore who had recently moved to the U.S. and was still learning English had to prepare for three math finals in about three weeks. Over about 23 hours of one-on-one work, he earned a perfect score on his Algebra 1 exam and raised his Honors Geometry grade from a D to a B and his Algebra 2 from a C to a B. ACT Math

ACT Math

I'm certified in ACT Math through Wyzant's subject proficiency exam, and I've tutored over 100 students in standardized-test math across the SAT, ACT, and related exams. I hold a B.S. from Marquette University and have built deep math expertise through years of self-study and teaching at every level from K-12 to university. The ACT math section rewards two things above all: broad content mastery, since it spans everything from pre-algebra and geometry through early trigonometry, and speed, because the pace is demanding and timing is where many students lose points they could earn. I teach both sides: making sure the underlying concepts are genuinely solid, then building the fluency and pacing strategy that lets a student finish strong and confident. I especially enjoy working with students who have felt rushed or stuck by the test before.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

Algebra 2 is the subject I tutor most: the plurality, and often the majority, of my students are working through it. I hold a B.S. from Marquette University and have built deep math expertise through years of self-study and teaching at every level from K-12 to university. Algebra 2 is genuinely hard the first time through: it's where students first juggle functions, transformations, trig graphs, logarithms, and complex numbers all at once. I focus on the gap I see most often - students who complete their homework but freeze on assessments - by building understanding solid enough to hold up under pressure, not just memorized steps. It's one of my favorite subjects to teach.
Geometry

Geometry

Geometry is my second-most tutored subject, after Algebra 2, with well over 100 students taught, and it has earned some of the most appreciative feedback I've received from families. I hold a B.S. from Marquette University and have built deep math expertise through years of self-study and teaching at every level from K-12 to university. Geometry trips students up in a way algebra usually doesn't: it trades procedures for visual reasoning and formal proof, so a student who was comfortable solving equations can suddenly feel lost writing a two-column proof or seeing why a theorem holds. I focus on making that reasoning click: building spatial intuition and connecting each theorem to the logic behind it, so proofs become a way of thinking rather than a list to memorize. It's a subject I genuinely enjoy, and one where the right approach turns confusion into confidence quickly.

SAT Math

Exceptional Tutor - Beyond Expectations

Christian has been an exceptional tutor for my daughter Hunter-Rose as she prepares for AP Calculus AB and her SAT Exams.
