About Linda

Bio

I have worked with children from preschool through third grade for 14 years. I am currently a Kindergarten teacher in Hillsborough county looking to reach out to students who need one-to-one or small group learning. Teaching and tutoring young children are a passion and I thoroughly enjoy them both. Tutoring allows me to work closely with those students who need extra encouragement and confidence in learning.

Teaching and tutoring young children are a passion and I thoroughly enjoy them both. Tutoring allows me to work closely with those students who need extra encouragement and confidence in learning.

Communicating amongst parents and myself is very important. I make sure to touch base with parents after each tutoring session to give feedback on progress as well as things to improve on. I have worked with general education students, Down syndrome, ADHD, EBD, Autistic, and students with Learning Disabilities that are on the high spectrum.

Students in my classes have been able to read above their grade level because I challenge them according to their abilities and help improve their weaknesses in a positive environment.

I am completing my Master's in Special Education.
Knowing the children of today will be our future leaders, and working with them the best I can to achieve great things means a lot. I work hard at tutoring and teaching because I only want to see students strive to their highest potential with the confidence and skills needed. My gift from any student is watching them excel.

In the years I have been teaching, I have taught students who have ADD/ADHD. I currently have students in my class who have ADHD and are medicated and I am currently tutoring a third grade student diagnosed with ADHD. He is also on medication.

I have worked with Common core for the last three years with my kindergarten students. My school conducted several trainings/ professional development courses for our teachers. Our company's curriculum maps are constructed to teach according to Common Core fulfillment.

I have worked with students k-2 over the last 7 years. I love working with them and enhancing their learning experience. I have tutored students in grades 3-6 in primarily reading privately and with a tutoring company. My students have made great gains within the time I worked with them.

I have worked with preschool through kindergarten over the course of 14 years on handwriting from individual letters to building words. My experience and skills have allowed students to master handwriting prior to moving on to the next grade. Handwriting have been an essential part for me working with student development at young ages.

I work with students daily on small settings and individually with core subjects. Working according to Florida State Standards/Common Core has allowed me to tutor and teach my students the important skills and lessons they need. I include visual aids, hands-on learning, and pacing that is conducive to each students learning ability.

Phonics is an essential part of learning to read especially in kindergarten. I have worked with VPK and currently kindergarten students on phonics to help prepare them for reading. I have many resources and materials I use to help students master phonics.

Spelling

I use a comprehensive writing curriculum (Framing Your Thoughts) to work on basic foundations of writing, and it gradually builds to writing paragraphs. I incorporate my own ideas into the lessons according to the students I am working with and the need of the student.
