Hello, I am a Mathematics and Physics graduate from the University of South Florida with over 15 years of certified tutoring experience in both subjects. I have tutored as an employee at the University of South Florida and HIllsborough Community College as well as for family and friends with children in middle school on up to college level courses. I am a patient, enthusiastic tutor that looks forward to helping you or your child not just learn math or physics to pass a test but to understand the subject entirely as a foundation for further progress. I am confident to say that I have found methods to help decipher formulas, word problems, and complex concepts that are involved with solving equations in Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Precalculus, Calculus, Differential Equations, Probability, Physics, etc. I also have the experience to prepare you or your child for the SAT exam or any other exams that have mathematics or physics.

Approved Subjects

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

Algebra is, quite frankly, learning how to solve for a variable by moving everything to one side of the equal sign and leaving the variable you solve for on the other side. It is not as difficult as it may seem, unfortunately many teachers fail to explain this simple fact. I have much experience with algebra and am happy to help with this fundamental math.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

Algebra 2 is basically an extension of Algebra 1 obviously. It is also not as difficult as it may seem, it just takes someone to help students see that it is not so abstract.
Calculus

Calculus

Calculus is the math of changing rates (e.g. motion) and is the backbone of physics. I have developed a profound understanding of calculus as a physicist and also as a tutor of mathematics for engineers at USF.
Differential Equations

Differential Equations

I took differential equations at Hillsborough Community College and earned an "A". I tutored this subject for many students as a certified tutor at the University of South Florida for over four years. I have also had much experience with the subject as a physics major and graduate of USF.
Geometry

Geometry

Geometry is the fundamental aspect of most math. Einstein showed that gravity is actually a geometrical construct, meaning that it is the result of the geometrical interaction of space-time and matter. Often difficult mathematical subjects can be more easily understood using geometry.
Physics

Physics

Physics is my passion, my raison d'etre so to speak. Through physics many beautiful aspects of the natural world can be understood, but often educators fail to bridge this for students because they use concepts that are far too abstract, or simply because they don't know the subject matter any better than they have to in order to teach it in a very limited fashion. Only one third of high school teachers actually have a degree in physics. At any rate I will be more than happy to help with this fascinating subject, the basis of all our scientific knowledge. All other sciences are built from the foundation of physics.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

I have tutored many students on prealgebra in an effort to get them prepared for the next step in mathematics. I once was intimidated by mathematics but was fortunate to have an awesome instructor to help me see that it is not only not that difficult but can actually be fun...believe it or not.
Precalculus

Precalculus

I tutored students in precalculus privately, online, and also as staff at USF. I tutored students for the SAT/ACT exam many times.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I have assisted many students with preparation for the SAT exam and feel extremely confident in my ability to help them pass this exam with a very high score in mathematics.
Trigonometry

Trigonometry

Trigonometry is the mathematics of angles and shows up all throughout later classes in mathematics (much like algebra). Therefore confidence in this math is important and I am happy to help students attain this goal.

Focuses on student's needs

Michael is tutoring my son in AP Calculus and really connects with him. He is the third tutor we have tried. He picks up on my son's trouble spots and works with him encouragingly to solve the problems.

Knowledgeable and patient

He helped my son pass with his mid-terms and I would recommend him to friends any day. He coached him through the steps to solve the problems and resulted in my boy having the confidence he needed to complete the math test.

A reliable and helpful tutor.

Michael is a really patient and is always supportive. He is easy to reach and will respond to any question that you have in a timely manner. I enjoy his method of teaching, and he breaks down tough material into bite size pieces.

Very Helpful

Very helpful who explains the "why" behind the Calculus II he's tutoring me in. It's a big help. Plus, he know shortcuts! I would recommend him to anyone in math or physics.

Best Tutor

Michael worked with my son last night for the first time on his Physics questions and my son said he was the best tutor he's ever had. Big thumbs up!
