Skilled, Patient Tutor with Extensive Classroom Experience

Previous to my current teaching position I was employed as a substitute teacher. In this capacity I regularly taught in grades K-8 and thus have experience with a variety of children of diverse ages and skill levels. Because I teach in the public school system I have had background checks and fingerprinting so you can be assured that your child is safe!

I tutor students in elementary, middle and high school. Because reading and writing are a challenge for many students I have a great deal of experience and expertise in these subjects and enjoy them very much. I try to customize my lessons for each student and will change my strategies or invent new ones, if necessary, in order to help each student in the way that works the best for that individual student. I also have a good deal of experience and training in a very effective, specific, science-based method of reading instruction. Because of my art background I also enjoy the occasional opportunity to teach art. Whatever the subject I always try to my our lessons enjoyable for my students and myself.

I have both a Bachelor's degree in fine arts and a Master's degree in Education and I am dedicated to continually learning about new educational research and methodologies.
