I'm Sreeram! I graduated from the University of Florida with a B.S. in Physics, a B.S. in Mathematics, and a minor in Computer Science. I am currently pursuing my Ph.D. in Physics from the University of South Florida, and am teaching some of the undergraduate physics labs there as well. My experience teaching students in a lab setting really put in to perspective how disinterested most students are with lecture-based teaching modalities. There, my main goal is to reinforce the concepts introduced in a lecture setting, however most students seem to not understand the concepts in the first place. This shapes my view on how most students should approach learning new material; students should focus on problem solving by themselves which then is supplemented by a teacher providing directions. These classes average about 20 to 25 students, which I can work with in small groups of about 4 to 5.
I have about 1 year of experience tutoring my peers in an undergraduate physics setting, I have done SAT tutoring for high school students for about 1 year, and I have some limited experience tutoring middle school students in math. I worked one-on-one with my peers for physics as part of the university physics club, assisting students who were taking classes I had previously completed. These were bi-weekly sessions where I would be paired with students who I would help with Quantum Mechanics, Electromagnetism, and Linear Algebra. I have also tutored students one-on-one for SAT Math, and sometimes I have assisted with the SAT Reading and Writing portions as well. As part of a university effort for tutoring younger students in math, I have assisted with tutoring middle school students with their math courses, up to and including Algebra 1 and Geometry.
