In May of 2023, I graduated Stetson University with a B.A. in Communication & Media Studies and Political Science with a minor in English. During that time, I discovered my passion for tutoring, and since 2020, I have dedicated much of my time to supporting students in their learning endeavors by providing the resources, knowledge, and encouragement necessary to aid them in their journey towards success. From the beginning, my tutoring methods have been founded on the precedent that the students I work with lead the sessions, and if clarification or guidance is needed, then I will collaborate with them on an outcome that best blends proper writing techniques with their personal voice. That standard has remained at the core of my work, and I have upheld that value throughout my undergraduate education, then my time tutoring K-12, and through today where I now work with college students.
Throughout my time as a tutor, I have worked with students across many disciplines including biology, psychology, english, chemistry, history, and communication studies, and I have ample experience working with ESL students. While each individual came with various assignments, I structured every session the same: the student introduces the assignment, states what they want to work on, and what their goal for the session is, after which I read through the assignment alongside them so that we are both able to hear what is written and understand what revisions might need to be made. I ensure that every person I work with is aware that if there is ever a suggestion they disagree with, we can collaborate on a better approach that more directly aligns with what they need. In the end, the student's needs are the foundation of my tutoring, and I remain dedicated to supporting everyone that I work with on their path towards achieving their goals.
