After an accomplished professional life as a print journalist, landscape designer and business owner, I pursued my dream of becoming a teacher and writer. Upon graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor’s of English degree with a history minor, I enrolled in two master’s degree programs. While I work to put the finishing touches on my theses for both my MA in Literature and MA in Creative Writing degrees, I am equally privileged to share my experience and proficiency in college writing, reading comprehension, study skills and time management with other students pursuing their goals and dreams. During my collegiate career, I was honored to receive awards and scholarships for my academic writing and research, including multiple academic merit scholarships and the Journal of Narrative Theory Paul Bruss Graduate Scholarship.
My years as a newspaper reporter provided a firm foundation for the rigors of collegiate academics. As an undergraduate, I realized my love of working with others by tutoring fellow undergrads who were struggling with college writing, reading, and comprehension. I had the privilege of continuing this work while in graduate school, working with student-athletes both at the University of Michigan, and Eastern Michigan University. During this period, I strengthened my skills in individualized learning strategies. This natural flexibility allowed me to meet each student at the threshold of their own unique potential. I am able to tutor students on most subjects found in English and Writing, the Social Sciences, and the Humanities.
All told, I have been professionally tutoring students for more than nine years. During this period, we endured the lockdowns and remote learning during the Covid 19 pandemic. Like countless other educators, I became proficient with remote, online tutoring, and have come to appreciate the benefits that such remote work offers. I offer a free consultation meeting to all prospective students. Please contact me with any questions or to schedule a consultation or lesson.
