Hello! :)
My name is Brittany, and I've been tutoring privately for over 15 years now.
I've had a wide range of students, from age 5 to 55, from elementary to graduate level, in a variety of STEM subjects.
Originally from downstate New York, I'm now a high school biology teacher in Hillsborough county, though most of my experience has been in teaching math. I'm currently working on my teaching certification and hold a temporary certificate.
My main objective in teaching is to give students their own intuitive feel for the material, to take the extra time to really understand the "how" and "why" of it all so that they can build a strong foundation, catch up where they need to, begin to operate independently, and eventually start to accelerate their learning for the future. I have developed the instincts to understand which ways an individual student learns best by working through problems with them in a variety of ways, and how to use that to their advantage.
I do not teach by memorization; instead, I strive to empower students to wrap their own heads around each concept, and the methods they need to answer standardized questions start to become clear naturally.
I am generally available on weekends, and available in the afternoon during the week (the high school where I teach operates M-F until 4 pm, plus the time it takes me to travel).
If this sounds like a good fit for you or you'd like to know more, please feel free to send me a message!
Thanks for checking out my profile and I look forward to teaching you soon! :)
